Smith's Original Clear Penetrating Epoxy Sealer (CPES) is a low-viscosity, two-part epoxy system invented by Steve Smith, an American Aero-Space Engineer and Chemist, to solve the problems of wood. CPES was designed specically to restore deteriorated wood, as well as preserve wood all while acting as a primer that is an adhesive bond to any top coat. The two part epoxy system, made primarily of wood resins is a low viscosity which delivers the epoxy deep into the woods porous fibers and end grain. As it penetrates, it fills the microscopic voids and streghtens the wood by bonding and consolidating the wood fibers. Once cured, it forms a tough, flexible water resistant barrier that seals the wood from moisture, preventing rot, mold and decay.
