Not dense enough. It's not dense at all but it does compress like foam and you get plenty of material and carbon for the buck. If you can squeeze a few layers in, it *may* actually filter some air. Otherwise it's too breathable to actually react with anything that's in the air going through it. The authentic honeywell filters are extremely dense
