I used to keep all the junk mail and small broken-down boxes inside a small box for recycling. When it was full, I put the box outside into our 96-gallon bin for pickup. Now the waste company tells us we cannot put whole boxes in the recycling bin. I bought this to collect the loose paper and cardboard before I take it outside to dump it into the big bin. It is a sturdy plastic and does not look that bad sitting in the kitchen. I am lucky to live with woods on 3 sides of my house. I no longer cut the large boxes up to recycle. I break them flat and put them in the woods. Small animals hide under the cardboard for shelter. Cardboard is paper made from trees. It breaks down in the rain and snow and goes back into the ground. This saves me all the hassle of cutting up huge boxes that come weekly from my online orders.
