The instructions that came with the unit are very sparse and weirdly translated into English. I found this video from Peggy's Plants very helpful: https://youtu.be/eCVwYX96ZbY?si=4C_DINkkG_07hmst Any subsequent cleaning are done with the top assembly off. There are warnings not to use vinegar to clean the unit, only citric acid. Otherwise, this unit is as easy to use and clean as advertised.
