hamilton beach programmable 7-qt slow cooker

I was pretty excited to try out this slow cooker(aka crockpot) from Hamilton beach. it is a large capacity crock. the insert, which holds all the liquids and solids is made of a coated ceramic and is fairly heavy upon lifting, but all crock pots I ever knew of were all heavy anyway. it takes the thickness of the ceramic to keep the food from burning and also to hold the heat. I mean, any food will burn where there is any heat unless you have added the PROPER amount of liquids to cook with. this is a 7 quart programmable(extremely simple to use)slow cooker with a glass see thru cover. the handle on top of the cover doesn't seem to take on a lot of heat so that your are able to remove the lid without running for pot holders or dish towels. very convenient to me, especially if youre a busy person and on the move around the kitchen. I read the instructions first. it was basic. I stated this in my video(url included below)but the sun was in my eyes and there was a glare so that I couldn't see that the unit was already on. and I wasn't wearing my glasses. I figured I didn't need to wear my glassed because since this unit was THAT EASY to use. I just didn't count on glare in my eyes and I was standing on the side of the unit. anyway, the temps read... warm, low, high. for the time, just press the HOURS button and it will go to the first spot which is 2 hours. if you push the button again, it will move to the next spot which is 4 hours etc all the way up to 10 hours if you choose. there is the on/off button as well. when stirring, please remember to use either wood or plastic(Teflon). I didn't realize this and when I went to clean the ceramic insert, I noticed I had scratched the bottom a little. so, I made a chicken stew and put the cooker on high and before 5 hours, the entire amount was cooked. this slow cooker means business and steps right up to the plate(no pun intended). I am so looking forward to making other meals in it. people are using crockpots for making EVERYTHING. from pastas to desserts. this is going to be a lot of fun and save time too ! a clean looking, large, simple to use product ! what more could any cook want!

Great Slow Cooker

This is a review of the Hamilton Beach 7 Quart Slow Cooker. This Slow Cooker is capable of holding a 7 pound chicken or a 5 pound roast. It has three temperature settings warm, low and high. It also has settings for cooking times in 2 hour increments from 2 hours to 10 hours. The base is stainless steel the crock pot itself is black with a glass lid. I like that the lid has a metal edging around it. I had another crock pot with a glass lid that did not have a metal edging and it chipped easily. I really liked that this pot is oval shaped because it holds food better than previous crock pots that I've owned which were round and taller than this one. I also like that this pot will automatically go to warm cycle for 12 hours after it completes the cooking time that was originally set. The cooking times are marked off in 2hr increments as I stated before, after the 2 hrs the timer moves down to the next mark etc. I used this pot and I love it! I also liked the fact that it cleaned up very easily. I would recommend this crock pot.

Great Slow Cooker

For those of us who love to put the slow cooker on while we are at work, this slow cooker is awesome! You can program the slow cooker to cook on high or low for up to 10 hours. I think this is great because some recipes can be done in a shorter time on high but I never cook them on high because I don't want the slow cooker to be on high for 8 plus hours! I assume I am not the only one in this world with that dilemma. The timer will automatically reduce the time every 2 hours. When the cook time has come to an end, the slow cooker automatically puts itself on the warm setting. So cool. Not having the worry of cooking too or too low for a longer period of time while you are away from home is awesome. My only con with this crock pot is the length of the power cord. It's pretty short. I was hoping that this one would be different from my others in that regard, but oh well. I cook a lot of dips and side dishes for parties and I can already see that I will need to place my dish either right by the outlet or bring an extension cord with me. I'm okay with that though. It's not a big enough issue to be a deal breaker.
