This bench is wider than most step stools which is a blessing to those of use that need a little bit bigger platform to feel stable when needing to get to the top of the refrigerator or to get to that top shelf where we keep item that we seldom use. It's easy to fold and really feels sturdy. I certainly would recommend it .
