I bought this as a new bed for my boxers. They are very rough on standard dog beds, being a large breed, and I wanted something that would be comfortable for them as they are getting older. Rather than waste money on crib sheets, I made a slip cover from fabric so the whole mattress is covered. The dogs love it and it will last a lot longer for them. The mattress arrived in a plastic bag only, no box.
