I started putting this together by myself but found I needed another set of hands to hold things while I secured the shelves in place. Packaging did come with a hand tool, but my husband made quicker work of things with his power drill. Everything was labeled with a letter, directions were simple and overall the assembly was painless.I noticed other reviewers complained that it wouldn't assemble, but once I put it in my son's room and filled it with books, you couldn't tell any of those things. Overall,，we are very happy with this desk. For the price, I think it's better than I expected. It's completely solid wood—even the bottoms of the drawers. It arrived much faster than predicted. My 9 yr old son is thrilled. recommendation!!!
