I'm happy with this portable DVD player. I wanted something to play DVDs while traveling and this player easily meets my needs. An added bonus is that I can also use it during power outages. The controls were pretty intuitive, it was easy to just pop in a DVD and get started without reading the user manual. The video quality is good. Ive been using earbuds for sound and the quality is excellent. I tried the built-in speakers just to check them out and they do OK, especially considering how small they are. Ive attached 2 pictures to this review. The first one shows the right side of the player where all the ports are. In addition to the audio/video and power ports there is a USB port and a slot for an SD memory card. The 2nd picture shows the control pad that is built into the right side of the player. It has all the controls for viewing a DVD as well as buttons for navigating to the USB or SD card media files. Use of the controls for viewing a DVD was very straight-forward. I had to experiment a little by pressing buttons to get access to the USB or SD files but it didn't take long to figure out how to navigate. A nice physical feature that I don't have a picture of is the flexibility of the screen. It folds all the way back so that the player screen is flat. The screen also rotates 270 degrees so it gives you a lot of flexibility on your viewing angles. So, I bought this player to watch DVDs when I didn't have power and for that application it does a great job. However, I also experimented a little to see how well it did some other stuff and for that I wasn't as impressed. First, this is a standard DVD player, it does not recognize Blu Ray disks. Now, of course you couldn't tell the difference between a standard DVD and a Blu Ray on such a small screen but if you've been expanding your Blu Ray library and getting rid of your standard DVDs then this player wouldn't be a good choice. Next, I tried the player to view pictures. I already have loads of pictures on SD cards so I plugged a card into the player. The player recognizes the picture format with no problem but the pictures are really grainy. The screen looks great for video but the resolution just isn't very good for still pictures, I'll use it as a picture viewer of last resort. Finally, when I'm traveling I sometimes shoot video rather than take still pictures so I was curious about whether I'd be able to use the player to view videos that were loaded on the SD card or USB memory stick. Unfortunately, the player only seems to recognize audio and picture formats on the external memory. It seems that you can only view videos that are on a DVD.
