Fiskars Super Splitting Axe with 36" Handle for Medium to Large Logs

I've tried other axes and mauls from local stores always thinking "oh this new one works better". Well I waited awhile because of the higher cost of this axe vs the $25 ish dollar ones I used. But I am so glad I finally got it. It feels lighter than my 6lb maul, maybe from the hollow handle, my hands aren't shocked with vibration now vs using my old ones, and honestly this splits the same or better than my 8 lb maul!. I was so impressed I bought another for my son to use with me and split together. I split wood at least twice as fast now. I also barely ever leave reviews so that tells ya something.

Far superior to a standard single-bit axe. Came with a quality protective sheath %26 a razor sharp edge. I had easy softer wood to split %26 the X-27 got through the 6 to 10 logs ( ~14" long with one carefully paced strike. Chasing some larger 16" diameter Red Oak logs (~ 16" long), the X-27 did a fine job on the initial strike by digging deep %26 starting a healthy split. I was not swinging for the bleachers so, I was not expecting to get all the way through. A couple hits with a sledge on the back side of the axe ( holding the axe handle in one hand while whacking the back of the axe with the other hand on the sledge) with moderate hits got me through all the logs I had. The handle is excellent, has a good feel %26 does not vibrate. It also can take some punishment at the head of the axe without damage. Excellent tool. Worked well for me.
