Blackwood Bounty Dry Cat Food Whitefish & Lentils 4.5 lb

This seems to be a fine product. Our cats eat it without complaining. They aren't exactly connoisseurs but they haven't turned their noses up. PROS- bought it for its high protein content to supplement the everyday brands of canned cat food we purchase. Our budget no longer able to afford fancy cat foods with human grade ingredients, retirement, covid, the rising cost of everything we were really glad to see the amount of real protein in cat chow. I'm sure it will soon go up in price as it was new to the market when I bought two bags. Hopefully it won't price out of our modest price range. CONS- I personally believe if the food had a better shape flattened out would help the cats bite on the meal. Now haven't complained about the shape but it would seem a greater surface would be easier to chew. It maybe this tiny round shape helps the chow to stay fresh, it maybe keep the food from falling apart with would make it brake down into a powdery meal. My concern is as cat's age would this small round ball tend to stick between aging teeth? Not being a veterinarian I can't say for certain. I can only think what it might do to my own teeth. But then my cats don't have crowns or fillings. JUST SO YOU KNOW: regular brand and off brands of canned cat food provide little real protein. Mostly corn meal, fat, and salt. Your cat enjoys the fat and salt because it is flavorful but these cans in no way provide anything close to their ancestors diet or true nutritional needs. It like eating fast food all time. I try to supplement a real can of tuna along with the wet food I give our three cats at least once a week along with brand of dry food or similar to provide actual meaty proteins. One can each, an added protein and top with a meaty shelf stable dry food. It balances healthy nutrition and our pocketbook better.
