The carrying case is just the right size for a 3-year-old. The dinosaurs themselves are small but not too small about the size of the palm of this grandma's hand. I haven't yet given it to my grandson so I can't really comment on how well he likes them but I'm sure he will. I really like the fact that when he's done playing he can put them back into the case by himself or carrying them outside to plan the dirt with them or use his imagination with them a hundred different ways.
