I’ve only used this once so far, but honestly, I already wish I’d bought it sooner. We stopped buying pre-shredded cheese because it’s more expensive, doesn’t melt as well, and (in my house) mysteriously disappears the moment it comes through the door. I was hoping this attachment would let me buy block cheese, shred only what I need, and leave the rest intact and it does exactly that. What I love most is the convenience. My KitchenAid lives on the countertop full time, so this attachment is always within reach. I do have a food processor that can shred cheese, but dragging it out, assembling it, and cleaning it just for cheese feels like way more effort than it’s worth. With this attachment, I can grate cheese in seconds without the hassle. The results are excellent. I used freshly shredded cheese on a breakfast casserole this morning and it melted noticeably better than pre-shredded cheese ever does. Being able to grate just what I need also means the cheese lasts longer instead of drying out or getting wasted. Cleanup is easy. The drums go right on the top rack of the dishwasher and I haven’t found any real downside so far. The attachment feels solid, works quickly, and does exactly what it claims. If you already use your KitchenAid regularly and are tired of pre-shredded cheese (or wasting block cheese), this is a really smart addition. Highly recommended.
