50Pcs Air Plant Holder suction cup two sizes

The suction cups stick well to a mirror and a sheet of acrylic I have. They stick okay, not great to windows. No luck getting one to stick to the stucco wall (no surprise) nor to a wood door, nor to the refrigerator. I was surprised to learn that the ring that holds the plant is soft and malleable. I thought it would be ridged. I assume the plant will prefer the softer texture. A few years back, I bought some air plants as an experiment to combat excess moisture in a windowless bathroom. They did great there until August then they were cooked alive while I was at work. At the time, I didn't know about these holders and I had double sticked them to the mirror and it was difficult to remove them. While the tape eventually came off, it left a residue that can still be seen when the mirror fogs. I began thinking about how they could migrate: Spring/Fall in the bathroom and Summer/Winter elsewhere. I decided to try my lamp shade. I didn't expect they would stick to the shade (they don't), but I thought I could double stick them better to a curved surface than the flat back holders I also considered. The trouble here is, my best beloved Alien Tape sticks, but not great to the shade fabric. Allowing the tape to sit in place for a day before peeling off the back side and adhering something to it, helps, but it still isn't the best connection. I thought if I carefully placed the suction to the tape in a flat position it would stick, but the suction cup doesn't stay flat, it puckers up. It still sticks, just not as well as I had hoped. So, I snipped one of the cups in four places to see if that helps. It did, the cup lays flatter. At this point, I consider the double stick tape as a temporary placement, to see if one has the placement right. I think, were I to "buy into" the idea whole hog, I would consider using a permanent glue to adhere the cups. Or, better still, I would invest in a rectangular shade and use the flat back holders available.
