We have used the Scotch-Brite sponges for years. When I go to a friend or relatives home and use their sponges I find them much inferior than these. They last a long time! I keep a little liquid dish soap in it overnight and occasionally place in the microwave in order to kill bacteria. We find we can get close to a month out of each sponge doing those simple things.

I've been using these things for years, and they are the ONLY scouring pads suitable for use on Teflon and other nonstick-coated cookware. This sponge will absolutely not scratch. A pad/sponge will typically last me about a month before begins to lose its gentle abrasiveness. During the warmer months of the year, the sponge will occasionally developo a musty smell Despite the directions, I put my well rinsed sponge into my 1000w microwave and heat it for a minute on high. The sponge comes out smelling quite fresh and the sponge is not damaged.
