I put this item into a P330 Lenovo second gen. Now, if you try to do that you might not know to properly manipulate the retainor. One pushes down the little lever while pulling up and rocking the upper portion of the retainor. End the maneuver by pushing back (away from the NVMe's slot) while still lifting up all with regard to the assembly (retaintor). It should open up and give clearance for the NVMe.
