After getting our kittens, my 8 year old son developed an allergy to them and began reacting with hives all over his body when he would cuddle and handle them (this was strange because he had no reaction for about the first 6 months, so we did not even know he was allergic to cats). He was sad and reluctant to rehome them so I started looking for alternatives. We visited the allergist doctor and his only long term option was daily injections which he strongly considered. I stumbled upon a recommended for this food and we tried it consistently for 3 months. Unfortunately, after that, we tested it out to see if it was working by allowing my son to cuddle his kitten right before his shower on the night before his next scheduled appointment with the allergy doctor. Working minutes he had an allergic reaction and began itching. Because we somewhat controlled the experimentation and were prepared, he did not need an EpiPen shot, but was alright after washing off the cat hair and dander in the shower and taking allergy medication immediately after. We gave it about two more months of consistent feeding and maintaining separation and now, my son can handle both cats without any reaction. So while it took a bit longer than advertised, it actually has worked for us and my son is able to keep his two cats living indoors in the same home without the need for daily allergy shots or medications. The absolute crazy part is, that the main ingredient in food used to combat the allergy in humans is eggs, which my son also happens to be extremely allergic to. He has actually reacted so badly to eggs themselves that it has sent him to the emergency room and required administration of his EpiPen. I do not allow him to feed the girls (our cats) himself due to his egg allergy, to avoid a contact reaction with the food itself. But otherwise, we all live together in harmony with no issues. We have also had other people who are allergic to cats, comfortably visit our home for extended stays without suffering from any allergic reactions at all from the experience. I hope this review helps other cat lovers find a solution to allergy barriers for their households and loved ones. I was not paid or compensated in any way for this review. Food is a bit dry but when adding a small bit of water or cat food topper they love it. Does help to reduce allergens but does not completely eliminate. Recommend
