I bought this as a baby shower gift for my niece who is having her first baby. I researched video baby monitors and I read all of the reviews because I wanted to be sure that I was buying a high quality monitor for her. This monitor has so many useful features that it won hands down in my book! One of the best features is the 2 way talk feature! Like most moms these days, she has to go back to work. This monitor has an app that allows her to see, hear and talk to her baby whether she is in the kitchen or away at work via live stream on the app and the connection is totally private and secure. She can calm the baby by using the soothing sounds or 5 preloaded lullabies. She can even create her own personalized recordings. It can even play audiobooks! This device monitors the room temperature so you do not have to worry if baby is too warm or too cold! The camera has infrared night vision so you can see your baby clearly on the monitor. The parent video monitor is 5 inches so you get a big picture which you can also make video recording of which is another bonus feature. A key feature that made me lean toward buying this one is that there is a crib mount so you can have an overhead view of the baby and you can easily detach the camera to use it in other rooms of the house too, not just the baby room! The camera is excellent and can pan and tilt and even zoom in for a close up of the baby! I find baby items these days have a lot of bells and whistles but they are useless and do nothing but make it more expensive. But this video monitor is the exception to that rule! All of the features on this monitor are very useful and provide peace of mind for both mommy and the baby (and daddy too)! I wish this was around when I was raising my 5 children! One more thing, this video monitor will not be obsolete once the baby years are over. Because the camera can be moved from room to room, this is a great tool to use through the toddler years and beyond to keep an eye on the kids playing in another room while you are cooking dinner or any other of the endless duties of parenthood, and even give you peace of mind when you are out with hubby for date night and the kids are with a babysitter, no more worrying if things are going well, pull out your phone and click on the app, and you can see how things are going!
