I like Smith's products. I like this sharpener of theirs, I can already tell I'll be buying another. Large enough for lots of different knives but small enough to take packing with you wherever you may go. Make it an adventure :)

Smith 4" Knife/Hook/Flat Blade Sharpener

Took it home for a good test drive, its a great tool weighing 5.17oz, a little heavy for backpacking. The construction of 2 part device are made rugged and ready for abuse. There are 2 sides, Coarse and Fine grit, it also has a slot for HOOK sharpening and it works well, just rub your hook back and forth a few times in the slot. A jewel to have if you need a sharp edge quick !!! I still use my Japenese Nagura Stone to put the final touches on all my blades. You can sharpen knives and axes. You should not use to sharpen serrated edges. Understanding this neat device, as the agressive cutting speed of all Diamond Sharpening Stones will slow with use. At the same time, the abrasive finish will improve. Do not be confused by this break in process; it is normal and should be expected. Your Diamond Stone is breaking in and is a gradual process over time....Randy L.
