Goof off Adhesive Gunk Remover – 12 oz. Trigger Spray Bottle

OK, so looking back I will admit to a bit of overkill when I posted a small laminated sign on my front door using heavy-duty permanent outdoor double-sided foam mounting tape. At the time, all I really cared about was that it was suitable for outdoor use in our hot Florida climate. When the sun faded my sign, I pulled it off, but the thick foam tape would not budge, so I got more tape and shifted right for the new sign. Eventually that one faded, too, and I left the whole mess exposed to the elements for several years. So this was a great project to test my new bottle of Goof Off Adhesive Gunk Remover Gel. There are a slew of products of varying strengths in the Goof Off line. I chose one of the weaker ones for an admittedly challenging task. The tape I used holds up to 15 lbs., and is described by the manufacturer as an alternative to nails and screws. The directions on the Goof Off adhesive remover are to spray on, wait a few minutes, then wipe off with an absorbent cloth. I was a bit impatient, but quickly learned that longer is better. The foam on this tape is so thick that I doubt the gel actually penetrated through to the surface of my door, but together with a flathead screwdriver, I was able to scrape off every last bit in just a few minutes, with very little damage to the paint. Since my door will probably be repainted after 16 years, the slight damage to the paint was unimportant. Success! Next I tackled a mystery glob in my medicine closet. It's been there for years, dark and sticky. I have no clue where it came from. I sprayed on the Goof Off, waited a few minutes and then wiped it off with a few swipes of a paper towel. Success again! I'm impressed with this product. The bottle is labeled citrus scent, but there was no noticeable scent in either of my projects. The pump trigger offered the usual “off”, “spray” and “steam” selections. I chose “spray” for both projects. This is a good staple for your household cleaning pantry.
