Fantastic: Low speed is low. High speed is high.

The lowest setting is actually low! That was a huge frustration I had with fancier brands—the absolute hurricane force unleashed in the very first notch. This thing actually starts nice and mellow and doesn't throw ingredients out of your bowl. But it was also plenty fast for my purposes—whipped egg whites for a chiffon cake easily and without having to drag out my stand mixer. I haven't tried it with heavy ingredients like cookie dough yet, but I'm already glad I bought it.

I needed a new mixer bc I had lost some of my pieces and it was one I had for yrs and cheap when I got it. This one, Black Decker 5 speed Hand mixer, is the best hand mixer I've ever used! It was on sale at Christmas, came with a little plastic box that holds all the pieces and the mixer snaps on top so you can keep everything neatly stored and covered.

Amazing Hand Mixer

This Black Decker 5-Speed Hand Mixer is so thoughtfully designed. The compartment that holds the attachments and the cord are a great feature to have. You no longer have to search for them they are all in one place, stored with the mixer. I wash the attachments by hand and prefer to do it that way. I use a toothbrush to ensure all the little crevices are cleaned, give a few shakes to get rid of the excess water, and then allow them to air dry. The various speeds are really powerful. Definitely less stress on my wrists from mixing. The dough attachments are really nice for quick breads and soft doughs (cookies). This is not designed for heavier doughs. Considering it does everything else, it is awesome. It mixes, beats, whips and kneads like a dream. Super pleased with this mixer. It is very sleek taking up very little storage space. It is really easy to use. The placement of the speed button is very accessible while using. It can be adjusted with your thumb. You just press down on the same button to release the attachments.
