We ordered these rugs to prevent pencils, cell phones, and such from falling through cracks in the floor of a balcony. The rugs not only fulfill the task, but dress up the balcony, making it homier than ordinary decks. The material may look like caning from a distance, but it's better, a sturdy but lovely textile. So far the rugs have resisted soil. Hope they stay that way. Pink and yellow autumn leaves look lovely when blown onto the tan weave. Not sure how they'd be on an open deck, but for a covered balcony, we can highly recommend these rugs.
