Remote is unimpressive
The DW079LR worked well normal mode. The two issues I ran into was the remote and slope mode. The remote would not change the slope angle on the machine when I was 75 feet away. If I was 2 feet away from the unit the remote would change it then. The description in the instructions on how to change the slope says that you can press the angle of slope once or hold between 1 - 9 seconds and it moves a given amount or once you hold it for 10 seconds or more the rate of change increases. First off the instructions were not clear with how to set the amount of slope and second it didn't seem to adjust well. It wouldn't adjust or would so fast the receiver couldn't react quick enough and I would pass right by without the receiver beeping. We ended up calculating the amount of slope based of how far away and adding that to our zero. Then we visually adjusted the laser line to the slope we needed. It took an hour to set the slope with two people. I don't fee like the extra money spent on having slop and a remote was worth it.
play in between unit and tripod
Seems very durable. I like the ability to use my batteries and charger. Unfortunately there is a lot of slop in between the laser and the tripod due to the removable 5/8" tripod adapter. There should be two nuts integral to the unit, one for vertical position and one for horizontal. Instead of moving the adapter, there would be two solid mounting points. While locked down tight you can tip the laser with one finger and virtually zero effort. Due to this, I don't trust the tool and my company will purchase another brand of rotary lasers.
