Work Sharp Combo Knife Sharpener

I first purchased a worksharp sharpener about 8 or 9 years ago from cabelas and I use it several times a year to sharpen everything from kitchen knives to outdoor knives and even garden tools and mower blades and its never let me down. So when I had a chance to try this combo knife sharpener I had a high starting bar and man did it live up to it and then some. This combo unit does everything I need for any knife including serrated and it does it without having to swap out the belts like my older model. This feature really helps cut down the time and I'm very happy with the quality and flexibility. Don't hesitate and just get it and only regret not getting it sooner.

I have used the Work Sharp Combo Knife on a number of my knives. Among them a filet knife, chef knife, a couple of different pocket knives and assorted paring and other kitchen knives. The only problem I had with it was using ceramic hone and the honing guides. I had to read the instructions a few time to understand what Work Sharp was recommending. This was my take. At the top and bottom of the honing guides are a couple of yellow square patches. If I understand it correctly, you are to place the knife flat against the top or bottom yellow patch, maintaining that angle, and stroke it across the ceramic hone. Alternating top and bottom to sharpen both sides of the knife equally. Once I understood what to do it worked flawlessly. Remember to clean the ceramic hone from time to time. I never used the Flexible Belt part. The medium (P120) grit on the Flexible Abrasive Belts was to aggressive for my use. I don't let my knives get in that bad of shape. Ever. I do wish a polishing belt had been included. That would have been nice. That and a little polishing rouge will pretty up a knife. I've got about quite a few knife sharping tools, including multiple butcher's steel and a leather strop, and the Work Sharp Combo Knife Sharpener makes a nice addition to the collection.
