  • Sizing - As a starting point, add 31 to women's US sizing and add 33 to men's US sizing to determine Birkenstock size.
  • Flex Footbed - Before fitting, flex the footbed. This will help them feel comfy sooner.
  • Step In - Open all straps and step into the footbed. Leave 1/4 inch of space around the heels and toes to ensure natural rolling motion.
  • Adjust Straps - Close the straps comfortably, leaving enought space to allow feet freedom of movement.
  • Take a Walk - Have the customer take a few steps. If their feet are able to move freely anad do not hit the footbed edge, the size and width are correct.
  • Recommendations - Limit the first 5 or 6 wearings to just a few hours. This allows the feet and body to gradually get used to the new support, straps and buckles.

Birkenstocks.....Where you order shoes on a decade

I went down a size like I usually do in sandals because I wear a 7 1/2 and hate when my foot hangs out in the back. It is not too short, but I toes hit the rim in the front. I'm hoping the rim will flatten out as they break in. The footbed and even the leather on top is soft. These run very wide, so if you have normal width like me, order a NARROW. Will have to add some holes to make them tighter. My last pair lasted 10 years

I having been buying Birkenstock sandals for the last twenty years. These were very uncomfortable. I will look for another brand that has good arch support.
