Wilton White Decorator Preferred Fondant, 24 0z.

I used this fondant to make decorative flowers for a buttercream frosted cake. I dyed sections of the fondant different shades of a single color and each turned out exactly as I wanted. It was easy to work with and the colors were even and smooth although it does take quite a bit of kneading to achieve that. I am very pleased with this product.

Wilton's Fondant has a better taste

Wilton's fondant has always been my go-to for my edible figures. However, I have noticed a change in taste which I appreciate. The white color use to be brighter than this new white. So now when needing a true white color, I have to use food coloring. It is easier to mix colors in than the other, I like that.

Easy to Use. Nice Smooth Results.

I really like this fondant. I have never used fondant in the past, but had always wanted to try it. This stuff is easy to work with and gave my cake such a smooth finish. It's also fun to mold things with. This 5 lb box contains 2 foil wrapped sleeves. I used ½ of 1 sleeve to cover a short double layer 9" cake and used the cut off scraps for extra fondant molded decorations. I sprinkled my rolling mat w/powdered sugar and then I kneaded the dough. I then rolled it to about ⅛", like the directions stated. It went on my prepped cake easily (cake had a butter cream crumb coat). I smoothed it out and trimmed off the excess. I had my kids help make decorations from the fondant. We actually colored this fondant w/some concentrated food dyes that I had. I kneaded the coloring into the white fondant and I just sprinkled in some powdered sugar to keep it from getting too tacky. The kids had fun making shapes w/the fondant. The taste was OK. I wasn't a fan of it, but my husband and kids liked it. To me it tasted like store can frosting w/a hint of marshmallow flavor. The texture was also weird to eat too. Again, no one else seemed to mind the texture, but did note that it was a little tough/chewy. If you use fondant or are new to it, like me, then I suggest trying this one either way. It's easy to work with, fun to mold decorations with, & satisfying to cut when you finally serve the cake.
