Great for hiking. Lightweight, quick dry, multiple pockets, and does not take up much space in backpack.

Comfortable and convenient

I have purchased several pairs of the Sierra men's Trail Convertible Pants from Walmart. They are great for Spring though Fall in the Midwest. Lightweight, quick to dry, and convenient. I wear a custom knee brace and these make mid day adjustments of the brace easy to do. I will purchase again. I do have two minor observations. 1. There are Velcro'd pockets on the front of the legs above the knee. They overlap the side pockets in position, so if you have something a little bulky in both, they press against each other and are uncomfortable. I also wear BSA Switchback pants and they do not have this problem. 2. The side pockets have a tendency to let the contents slip out if you are sitting in a certain way. I've misplaced both my keys and pocket knife while in my camp chair. A nice feature of these pants are the zipper slit at the bottom of the legs. It makes it easier to take off or put on the lower leg sections with shoes or low boots on.
