i have two of these barrel vises. i have one savage 110 rifle and many Ruger American rifles that i have put custom barrels on with the use of these barrel vises. to change out barrels i put the front of the action in one vise and the barrel in the other. two vises are important for installing a barrel on these rifles so that after you set the barrel to the proper headspace neither the barrel nor action can move while tightening the barrel nut. this vise is very heavy-duty and will last a lifetime. wheeler makes great products and this is just one of them. i highly recommend all wheeler products.

Vise worked great. The wooden blocks which are intended to be expendable were a one-time use item. I would recommend getting the aluminum blocks. I also used to vices. One near the chamber and one set at the chase of the barrel. The two together were required to keep the barrel from spinning. Keep in mind, I'm working on 100+ year old rifles.
