I had been side-eyeing the Vego Garden 2x4 Elevated Self-Watering Rolling Raised Garden Bed like it owed me money. The one thing standing between me and gardening bliss? A water level indicator. I wasn't about to play psychic with my plants—I needed a sign (literally) for when it was time to water. So, I kept searching for The One… the raised bed of my patio dreams. But like a bad ex, I kept coming back to this Vego setup. It had the right features: wheels (because why not make my garden mobile?), a self-watering system (yes please), and it was the Goldilocks size for herbs and leafy greens. Still, that missing indicator was a dealbreaker. So in March 2025, I reached out to Vego like, “Hey, can I pay extra for a water level indicator?” and they hit me with a very firm nope. Their suggestion? Buy a separate water meter. Sigh. Since I couldn't find another raised bed that ticked all my boxes, I bit the bullet and ordered it anyway. The color I wanted was sold out on Vego's site, but good ol' Walmart came through. And when the box arrived… plot twist! There WAS a water level indicator inside. I stared at it like it was a golden ticket to Wonka's greenhouse. Now, I don't know if they accidentally sent me a unicorn version, or if this is a stealth update that Vego has decided to keep secret like it's a government garden bed prototype. I haven't seen a single review or photo showing this elusive indicator, and remember—they told me flat-out it didn't exist. Anyway, I'm thrilled. It's perfect now (well… almost perfect—can we get a shade cover option for us Southern lettuce growers trying to keep our greens alive past April?). Vego's marketing team, if you're reading this: y'all might want to update your info because people need to know about this hidden gem of a feature. Or maybe I just got lucky and the Garden Gods decided to shine on me. Either way, I'm grateful, green-thumbed, and 10/10 happy with my purchase.

Another Great Purchase.

Received the bed earlier this week. It was a lot to put it together. I have to say that I hate all the plastic on the pieces (both sides). I wish there were another way to prevent scratching besides all that plastic. I have 5 of these beds now, and I hate removing the plastic more each time! Other than that, I love the Vego beds. They are sturdy and well-made. I think they will last for years. I HOPE! I just ordered the cover system for it. Now, I have 5 covered Vegos in my yard, plus some other raised beds. Can't wait to get the garlic in it. Excuse all the stuff on it. I just prepared the soil so it'll be ready for the garlic in a few weeks. Plus, my dog gets at the soil.

Great bed at the best height!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this raised bed. It is sturdy even when I move it to catch more sun. My only wish, and this is not the bed, is that the cover was taller. I have Egyptian Walking Onions in it, and they are curling because they've reached the top. Also, I am 6' tall, so these are perfect for a 61 yo tall woman. Overall, I love the bed. I have two!
