This is an extremely well made latch hasp. It is quite heavy. My house is 130-years-old. Every Spring and every Fall, the house shifts. Doors are constantly sticking when it gets too hot or too cold. I have a set of double doors in my kitchen that lead out to a screened in porch on the back of my house. I put heavy tarps over the windows because I do not have the money to have storm windows installed and the old storm windows that used to be over the screens disappeared decades ago. That porch gets to be below zero in the Winter even with the tarps. The dead bolt on that door froze and never worked again. I tried to install a new dead-bolt last Spring but the house shifted and it would not line up anymore. The reason I needed a solution was because the door has a locking door knob, but last Winter, 3 times that locked door knob poped open from the extreme cold and freezing cold air blew through my kitchen and made the furnace run on high all night before we found the open door. I put a heavy bench in front of the door, but it still popped open. this latch is the perfect solution. I can now put a padlock on that door for security reasons and keep it shut tight all Winter.
