This was a substitution for the Vibrant Life hard plastic (larger for 30 lb) carrier and we are very happy with it. It fits comfortably even our largest cat (about 20 lbs). He fills it up but is comfortable in it and can turn around. This is the first soft carrier we've had and we love it.

I bought this enroute to pick up my new kitty. She's young, and I'd say medium size. Of course, she hated it, but I buckled her into the seatbelt and drove 30 miles home with no problem .As she grows, I may need a larger one. If you have a small dog, (miniature or teacup) it should be fine, This carrier seems sturdy. I liked that the mesh sides allow me to see inside.
