Legendary Pitmaster Ed Mitchell is from Eastern NC, but he still appreciates the “Red” Sauce served in the Western part of the state, like in Lexington, NC. On that side of the state, Bar-B-Q is made from pork shoulder and the sauces use tomatoes, hence, “Carolina Red.” This authentic Red is tangy and spicy with a touch of sweetness from apples, butternut squash, and carrots. Loaded with American-grown fruits and vegetables, heritage, and zero added sugar, it’s the recipe for how we used to eat.
