She has been an active painter since 1980 when she completed the Famous Artist Fine Art Course. She has a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Arizona and has completed adult education classes in drawing and painting. Benz creates traditional realistic works of art in watercolor, which combine her appreciation of beauty with her love of animals. Recently she has been concentrating on portraits of the domestic cat, portraying their innate mystery and beauty in a still life or outdoor setting incorporating flowers, laces, antiques, and other beautiful objects. Benz strives to capture the unique personality and character of each cat she portrays.
