Braun BT5240 Mens Rechargeable Beard Trimmer and Hair Clipper

Fully bearded guy, I need to trim on occasion. My existing trimmer, purchased overseas for travel, finally caught fire and died gloriously, and I found myself in need of a replacement. I had no interest in the Conair, Wahl, Gillette, Phillips-Norelco stuff that all come with 15 bazillion attachments that are sized in either metric, inch, adjustable wrench, or the Periodic Table of the elements. Over the years I accumulated a bathroom drawer full of the things, none of which ever seemed to fit the trimmer I had at the moment, and I chucked them all out the day I went looking for something new. Following a short Google search, I narrowed myself down to a pair of Braun models: the BT3240 and the BT5240. The BT3240 is the bargain basement Braun product that gives you 80 minutes of rechargeable battery life and requires 8-10 hours to recharge. The BT5240 that I purchased for only $5 more gives you a better rechargeable battery that provides 100 minutes worth of use and requires only 1 hour to recharge. All other functions are virtually identical. Both of them come with a Gillette 5 blade handheld Fuzion razor which is of no use to me at all, and will rattle around in a junk drawer for the next six years until I chuck it out as well during a cleaning frenzy. The BT5240 is not considered a "precision trimmer", so if you need that sort of thing you may want to consider the Braun BT5260. I've now used the BT5240 3 times and it is a great piece of gear that does what I need it to. Very adaptable for different beard lengths, easy to use, has two adapters that cover most any beard length you need to chop, and doesn't include a lot of unnecessary fluff like a travel bag that rips as soon as you stare at it wrong. In summary: BT5240 is $5 more expensive, but has a better battery. 39 length adjustment settings Lithium-Ion battery, 100 minutes run time, 1 hour recharge. 5 minute quick charge good for one trim if you wake up to a discharged trimmer. Charging and Low battery indicators Corded or cordless use. Fully washable, but not designed to be submerged.
