It is not as wide as it seems in the picture but many its just the angle of the picture. It is sturdy and the height is as showing in the picture, right to the countertop. I feel is very secure, the rails / guards are tight. I like the simple design and that it can be repurposed later like the pictures show... as a "chair" or simple step stool as the back rails can be removed.
