Thompson's is The Best Stain %26 WaterSeal. 3 years ago I tried a different product. I did my research. Based on the description and fact that it was an oil based product I tried it. It was more expensive and I had to use more than 2X's the amount. BIG MISTAKE! This year my deck was unprotected, weathered and required a robust cleaning. Stick with Thompson's. Don't learn the hard way.

First time using and I'm blown away. Hardly any smell. Watery consistency, but the more it sits the thicker it becomes. But not too thick. It pours out mauve then dries into a nice chestnut color. Used for my chicken coop and run. 2x4s, the stain sat on top and with the pickets, the stain soaked in, so the chicken coop is a slightly darker shade, but not too big of a difference. I used one can for the entire coop and the run and I still have a good bit left over. I will definitely buy it again. Easy application and cleanup.
