It holds so much more than I was expecting! I usually travel with an old Vera Bradley tote bag and I was expecting about that much space. I was wrong I would say it's about 1.5x that- maybe a little more if you don't need it to zip shut. The only downside is the laptop sleeve was too small for my laptop (15”). I think it would hold any size smaller though because it was just a smidge too small.
