Should last 2-5 years if taken good care of, cost
I like carbon steel skillets and woks. They heat up evenly, works with induction stovetops (if the bottom of the wok is flat, which this one is), and are relatively light and easy to handle. But the one thing that is unlike an UNcoated carbon steel wok that would normally last 10-20+ years is that this already comes coated with a nonstick of some sort. Which means once the coating wears off, it'll need replacing. Nonstick cookware like this one usually needs replacing every 2-5 years considering how well you take care of it, but for the price, it is reasonable and worth it. I absolutely love this wok. It heats up and distributes heat very well and very evenly – true to a carbon steel wok. The helper handle is amazing! I've used woks all my life, but just don't have the wrist strength like my ancestors do, so I've always hated woks without helper handles. Or I've always opted to get smaller-sized woks (but that defeats the purpose, so I might as well just use a large skillet). I've had it for about a couple weeks now, and use it twice a day. It's easy to clean and easy to use. The main things to maintaining this is not to cook with excessively high fire, not to wash it when it's still sizzling hot, and not to apply metal utensils to the surface. These 3 things will ensure that the wok last for as long as it's meant to last, which can be up to 5 years! I can't say for certain how well the nonstick will last, but so far, it's been as good as the first day.
Fav Cooking Pan
This Tasty Steel 14" wok works great, it’s pretty lightweight so that’s cool. It’s obviously not the best quality or construction but for the price it’s a great short term solution at least for myself! The most important thing to know is that you have to learn a different way to cook. Keep the heat lower, and take your time. It needs your attention, so if you leave it, and expect good results, you'll be disappointed.
Best Wok I've Ever Tried
I received this wok from the Walmart Spark Reviewer Program, and I have already prepared two dishes in it. First, its larger size means it can easily handle recipes of 6-8 servings, and most of my Asian recipes make "company-sized" quantities. The combination of a skillet handle on one side and a pot handle on the other is wonderful. I use it on the center elongated burner of my stovetop, but it can easily be used on the standard 4 1/2 inch diameter round burner. Now, it's so much easier to TOSS the food, which is the preferred way to cook in a wok. No other utensils (spoon, spatula, etc.) needed! Whether cooking Sesame Beef or just my own vegetable mixes in a light ginger sauce, the dishes come out perfectly! Again, it is a larger wok than previous ones I've owned, so I decided to hang it rather than finding a place for it in my cupboard. This wok is a real improvement over others I've owned. Try it. You won't be disappointed!
