Yes, accidents happen, particularly as they age. Past protectors were more like a plastic type of material, which does not breathe well, and consequently they are hot. This protector is WAY DIFFERENT in a good way. It breathes to keep you cool, but also manages to protect the mattress. A win-win! I highly recommend that you spend the extra $ and get this mattress protector. You'll regret it if you don't, and you'll thank yourself if you do.

It was easy to install and thin enough that doesn't hinder the cooling benefit from the breeze mattress. I wish it was easily accessible online without having to contact customer support to order this one over the original mattress protector listed on the website.
