It browns bread evenly at a number of different levels. From light "Sandy" to Dark "burnt". Give it time to cool between or it "over browns" compared to the last one. Or adjust the settings down one or two. Most toasters can produce crispy bread so no surprise that this one could do so reliably as well. I bought it because I wanted to have some sense of how long it would take for the toast to be ready. It shows seconds and changes the estimated completion period based on the darkness setting being used.
