Steelite 14-Inch Corded Electric Tiller,10-Amp Electric Tiller and Cultivator for Gardening, Lightweight Rototiller

It is lightweight and I expected to have problems tilling with it, but it is more powerful than I expected. Going forward, it is too light, and tends to jump up and down; but if you pull it back it digs into the soil quite well. I used this on a previously tilled garden to prepare it for winter and I was very pleased at the result.

I'm impressed by this little guy. I bought it mostly for tilling a small garden plot, but tried it out on some hard packed dirt and rock before I pulled out the picaxe and it saved my back a ton of work. It bounces around a lot but going slowly, it dug in a couple inches at a time until the job was done. It kicked out a few rocks 6-8 inch size and damp clay mixed with 2" rocks was slow going but it worked. You can't see it in the before picture due to the camera angle, but there was about an 18 in high mound of dirt and rock in front of the retaining wall that was far to hard for a hoe or rake to do more than scratch. There was more work shoveling the debris into the wheelbarrow than mowing down the dirt pile. Debris goes everywhere at knee level and below, but nothing hit me in the face so the shroud does its job although I'd highly recommend safety glasses. The cord comes unplugged easily unless you tie it in a knot or something. I wouldn't use it as a professional tool and I don't know how long it will last, but for the price it's saving me a ton of work re-grading parts of my yard, and if I need to buy a 2nd one to finish the job I will. It's cheaper and more convenient than renting a bigger one.
