I am elderly, The pole is heavy duty. love this! This meant it takes strength to assemble. I had to get my maintanence worker in my apt complex to put it together for me. I am so glad that I bought it. I feel so secure getting in and out of the tub now. I can feel good hanging onto it by pulling backwards on it. so slipping will not be a problem with the pole. I am glad it is strong metal.

It is extremely sturdy. The stander wonder pole has enabled mom to be able to safely transfer from her lift chair to her wheelchair on her own. She is able to use her arms to help lift her up since her legs won't hold her on their own anymore. Other than needing to be sure to have the top of the pole resting on a stud in the ceiling, you have the freedom to put it where it is the most beneficial for you. The ability of the the grab bar handle to easily be moved (by my 86 year old mother) at 45 degree intervals by pulling a knob that once released automatically locks into the next groove to hold firm in place. She needs it in one position to get in her chair and a different angle to get up. It is a relief for her and us that her chances of falling are much lower since she has something so sturdy to hold onto that won't give way if she loses her balance. We have had it 5 months now. We have one in the living room and one next to her bed. It also has a small footprint which is quite helpful.
