Works well.

This fits on all of my old 18V XRP tools just fine. I have the hammer drill, impact driver, circular saw, grinder, reciprocating saw, 1/2" impact, and flex light and it works great in all of them. My 90 degree drill won't accept the adapter but I do not think it was ever in an XRP offering and is my only Dewalt cordless tool that is not XRP. The adapter is a little difficult to remove in some tools and is almost impossible to remove if you leave the battery in so it is best to remove the battery first. I just started replacing all of my XRP tools so I only plan on using this while I do that over the next year or so. I am using the DCB205 batteries and the run time seems like about 4 of my old batteries combined, maybe more. It looks odd on the tools and sits at an odd angle but works well so far. None of the larger batteries (6.0ah plus) fit the adapter but the run time is long enough with the DCB205 where having a spare battery would run a tool for a full work day anyway. I noticed a significant improvement in power even over my newer XRP batteries in all of my tools and have not seen any drawbacks besides making the tool overall length longer which makes fitting in tight areas a bit more difficult.

Battery Adapter

This was purchased to help me convert my (5) 18v original tools over to the new lithium batteries. When I installed the adapter on my drill it worked flawlessly. When I tried to take the adapter off my drill and put it on my saw---the adapter would not come off of the drill. Is the adapter built in such a way that it does not come off? If so, this means you have to purchase a $45-$50 adapter for each tool. Say it is not so DeWalt. If you must buy an adapter for each tool, my review will change.

Needs warning to not store battery in adapter

I bought this to enable me to continue using some of the older tools without buying more of the older style batteries. For that, it works great. However, it does not have any warning the connecting the battery to the adapter will drain the battery when not used. This is a surprise. Now I always remove the battery when finished using the adapter. I think this is a surprise and a negative for this product since leaving the battery attached to the tools does not drain the batteries.
