Growlanser: Wayfarer of Time is a unique experience. While slow to start the player is sure to connect with at least one of the characters revealed. This is further enhanced when events requiring player choice are encountered. Did I make the right decision? Should I have taken a different approach? These are questions you may ask yourself as you weigh how your decisions may influence the story and shape the personality of your silent protagonist. While the graphics aren't of the next-gen variety characters animate well and self-portraits (while the artwork may put off some) are fairly expressive. Animated scenes are peppered throughout the experience and are a nice reward to see that adds some depth to the characters. The battle system is straightforward with a variety of systems to add some diversity. Where the system shines though is through its missions and objectives. Every battle is not your typical kill all enemies shown. You will be sometimes maneuvering to gain a strategic advantage or utilizing skills to incapacitate a powerful foe. Its this range of different objectives that make going into the next major battle exciting. At its current price point Growlanser: Wayfarer of Time is a great value.
