I cannot wait for this one! Growlanser Generations ( II & III) were easily two of the best RPGs I have ever played. Growlanser's battle system is unique. It is a blend of turn-based and real-time strategy; you control what each character in your party does, but their actions play out in real-time; with each action taking a certain amount of time. The other thing I love about the battles is that killing all of the enemies is seldom your only objective. For example, during some battles there are civilians that will be killed unless your party can rescue them in time. I think anyone who loves classic SRPGs like the Shining Force series will love this game. Also, this is 4th game in the series, but it is standalone so if your new to series you won't be missing back story. It is considered the best Growlanser by many fans, having 40+ hours of gameplay and multiple endings.

Growlanser: Wayfarer of Time is a unique experience. While slow to start the player is sure to connect with at least one of the characters revealed. This is further enhanced when events requiring player choice are encountered. Did I make the right decision? Should I have taken a different approach? These are questions you may ask yourself as you weigh how your decisions may influence the story and shape the personality of your silent protagonist. While the graphics aren't of the next-gen variety characters animate well and self-portraits (while the artwork may put off some) are fairly expressive. Animated scenes are peppered throughout the experience and are a nice reward to see that adds some depth to the characters. The battle system is straightforward with a variety of systems to add some diversity. Where the system shines though is through its missions and objectives. Every battle is not your typical kill all enemies shown. You will be sometimes maneuvering to gain a strategic advantage or utilizing skills to incapacitate a powerful foe. Its this range of different objectives that make going into the next major battle exciting. At its current price point Growlanser: Wayfarer of Time is a great value. So starved RPG fans waiting for the next big RPG appease your hunger, do yourself a favor and experience a charming portable RPG.
