Slow cooking goes upscale

If you have a Crock Pot or a Slow Cooker hang on because McCormick has the seasoning mixes for you. You know when you set up your crock pot for a meal then when it's finished,it comes out watered down and tasting bland? Got your answer right here. McCormick has a series of seasoning mixes just for Slow Cookers. The Fiesta chicken is our subject here. The package comes with a list of ingredients, suggested toppings, super easy directions along with a suggested serving on the back. This is a southwestern recipe that has been served for years in one form or another. With this season mix,it makes it easier to serve it often. I set mine in the cooker on low at 8 hours. When done,I opened the lid and the room filled with the aroma of my soon to be dinner. I tasted it to see if it would need any adjustments in seasoning and it was a surprised to find that it tasted as I had just made it. No watered down taste and I didn't have to add so much as a pinch of salt or anything else. McCormick has a winner here, and I will make room in the cupboard for it and I hope many other recipes.

Yum!

My husband is Hispanic, so he's usually not crazy about food made from a seasoning mix or anything that isn't homemade; this one, though, he liked well enough to tell me I could make it again! I love slow cooker recipes; I can put the ingredients all together well ahead of time, plug it in and forget about it, then have dinner ready when we're ready to eat. This one is very simple: 2 cans of tomatoes, 1 can of beans and one of corn, chicken and the seasoning--put the lid on, set it to cook 8 hrs on low or 4 on high, and that's it. Next time I will make some rice to go with it; it was fine on it's own, too. It is a little spicy, so you might want to be careful if you have kids, but it is really good. The mix itself is pretty low calorie, although it does have a bit of sodium. But it's good and easy!!

Really good!

This review is for the McCormick’s Slow Fiesta Chicken Seasoning Packet. This was a free sample received through the Wal-mart Spark Reviewer program. I was not sure what to expect. I love the McCormick line of products. I have used many of their spices and other products for more years than I care to count. But many of the “slow cooker” packets have been disappointing. I was not disappointed with McCormick’s. It was easy to read, needed ingredients that are not hard to get at the store, and very simple to make. I thought it had just the right amount of spices. Nothing too hot or harsh. It was even better after it was reheated. My family really enjoyed it. In our family, after trying a new food, someone will ask “Would you eat it/order it again?” Everyone agreed this was definitely something to keep in the kitchen. This is so good I will definitely be keeping this in my pantry. Next time, I am going to try using it as a filling for burritos. Can’t wait.
