Miravel is a perfect priced freshwater reel

I am an avid fisherman. I fish fresh, brackish, inshore salt, and offshore salt. I have been fishing for over 50 years since I was a tot at my grandfather's side, catching bluegills in the Monongahela River just 50 yards from my home. I grew up in one of the hottest Walleye spots ever. I now live in fishing heaven, Florida! The new Shimano Miravel is impressive. Because I wanted a couple of reels specifically for panfish/crappie fishing that I could keep spooled up with lightweight 4

Is the Miravel a good Product?

A new Shimano spinning reel for 2022/2023. This reel is has been given lots of makerting effort, however its really just one of many US domestic market reels that doesn't really offer anything special when compared to every other Shimano spinning reel below the price point of the Shimano Miravel. There are reels such as the Shimano sienna, Catana, Sedona, Sahara and more which are all less in price and never have any one of those I own are rough like the Miravel I purchased. I've owned many Shimano reels over the years and it appears Shimano as a company has found a way to continously feed the US market with products that look good and sound good on paper. In the last 12 months I ordered four 1000 size Shimano Stradic FL reels and a 1000 size Twinpower XD all of which were really rough out of the box and my experience was no different with the Shimano Miravel. I've decided to send the reel back. In my honest opinion theres nothing the Miravel can do that any lower price Shimano and making a reel lighter in weight means nothing if the quality is inconsistent. If a Shimano reel's gears are rough out of the box, it will only worsen with use and that was my experience after spending $1000 on three 2017 model Shimano sustains. Take a chance and buy the Miravel and you might get lucky and score a good reel or be dissapointed if you recieve a bad one out of the box.
