Sturdy, I don't lock it because the lid latches automatically and stay shut until you press the release button on the front. I keep the keys in the box in case I want to use them in the future and I don't have to try to remember where I "hid" them.

For the price, the Sentry Safe Model# FHW40100 meets all my requirements for a fire safe, waterproof storage device for my emergency documents. It is designed only to safely store important documents from fire and water hazards. It has a simple key lock system, and, thus, is not intended for secure storage of values, etc. I have a concern that the high moisture content of the insulation would cause the enclosed paper documents to absorb moisture from the box. As a precaution I am placing my documents in sealable plastic bags.
