GearWrench 84903 71-Piece SAE/Metric 1/4 in. Drive Std/Deep/Universal Impact Socket Set

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When it comes to speed of disassembly this complete 1/4" impact socket set when used with your favorite cordless power tool can save so much time! I recently found myself using a 1/4" cordless impact driver with a square adapter for removal of fastener on things like valve cover removal, oil pan removal, transmission pan removal, and small engine repair. Basically anything that has multiple same sized fasteners in a relatively close area can save so much time. You certainly could do that all by hand, but it's faster to do it with a power tool and impact sockets. Impact sockets in 1/4" drive are useful on smaller rusted or corroded fasteners where you might need to tap on whatever impact socket is the tightest fit and I don't have to worry about damaging a chrome socket. In situations where you can't use power tools these impact sockets are pretty comparable in size to chrome sockets and can be used with pretty much any hand tool brand ratchet. Because this is an impact set the sockets don't have ball detents on all sides like chrome sockets just one single drilled out recess. The sockets are all clearly marked with laser etching. The shallow and deep sockets appear to have the size stamped on them while the swivel sockets just had laser etching. I primarily use metric sockets so I probably won't keep them in the case long term, but the case has 2 plastic hinge claps on the side and 2 all metal ones. If you plan to leave everything in the case it will hold and stay shut for many years. The metric sockets have full coverage from 4 to 15mm with no skips in deep and shallow. It does include the 4.5mm and 5.5mm The metric swivel sockets range from 5 to 15mm and does include a 5.5mm
