Great unit that does the job well,READ the manual!

I need to start out by saying that I purchased this item in store at Walmart for full price. No one gave me this as "part of a promotion", I went out and spent my hard earned money on this. That being said, so far the unit has worked great. It pulled an entire bucket of moisture out of the air overnight (60% to 40% humidity) in the bottom apartment/unit of my house. The apartment was partially a basement before so the humidity was easily 60%. So as far as function as a dehumidifier, this unit performs among the best and most efficient (energy start rated). The pump so far has worked great, though I will grant you the unit is only a few days old. You just connect the provided tubing FIRMLY into the unit and then press the "pump" button when it is turned on. When the unit is full, it will automatically pump out about 1/5th of the total water in the bucket (assuming the pump button light is on) . It will do this in a cycle over and over, and in this way, you will never need to empty the bucket fully unless you are moving the unit a long distance or storing it away. No this does not fully pump out the bucket, but that is irrelevant because you will never need to dump it out either. Be sure the pump tubing is inserted all the way, when I first used the unit it leaked around that connector, turns out it wasn't inserted enough, it takes some real force. All the complains ive read seem to be ignorant about how the pump function operates and that fact they didn't connect it well enough. It was simple and easy for me, a 28 year old man, to connect it to Wi-Fi and the iOS app. Very simple basic app but does work, and thats all we need from it. More a novelty really, but its cool as it does work with Alexa and google assistant. My main complain is that the informational stickers on the exterior of the unit are almost hard to understand. The English used is so broken and grammatically incorrect, you may have trouble understanding it if you're not a native English speaker. A little disappointing that the sticker verbiage is this bad on a unit sold in Walmart stores nationwide. The owners manual however seemed to be much better off, but it was also a bit scatterbrained as random important info was in various sections of manual with no real regard to information being put in the correct categories/chapters of the manual. So be sure to read the entire manual. They also dont make it clear that the pump operates automatically, it almost infers that the pump button is a manual activation type thing that only works when being pressed. It does work automatically when the water reaches a certain point, assuming the button was pressed once and the light above it is on, indicating that it is on and in standby for the water level sensor to trigger. I also bought a second unit today for the upper part of my house. Overall, great unit with some rough edges but would recommend it. Thanks for coming to my TED talk ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Outstanding Product and Price

I had a water leak in my basement from 4 1/2 inches of rain that my gutters couldn't handle properly. After wet vacing the carpet, pulling the carpet away from the wall I started the Midea 50-pint EnergyStar Dehumidifier and emptied 8 (2) gallon buckets of water out after wet vacing. The humidity is set at 40% and holding. I hooked up a direct hose to my bucket rather than using the pump option. Fantastic machine.

Dehumidifier - Midea

So far so good. Read the directions, plugged it in started up and it dropped the humidity very nicely. I am using the hose versus the pump. Hope it continues to operate efficiently.
